What is a Main Point of Contact?

Main Point of Contact are a vital part of our education programs. This person serves as the liasion between the Collaborative and their school, interfacing with the DC Collaborative staff to help register their teachers for Arts and Humanities for Every Student (AHFES) programs and other learning experiences. Each representative will be trained in our online registration system and all AHFES policies and procedures to register for the program. The Main Point of Contact should work with the principal and other teachers in their school to build consensus around which opportunities will be most relevant to the students' classroom learning.

Pre-COVID,the DC Collaborative hosts a lottery three times a year for AHFES programs being offered in the upcoming cycle and interested schools submitted requests for these programs through the online catalogue during a planned, one-week period. After each lottery cycle ends, the DC Collaborative would then assign these learning experiences by distributing the opportunities equitably among all schools that submitted requests. The Main Point of Contact also disseminate information about the Professional Development Workshops to the other teachers in their schools.

However, with virtual learning happening in many of our schools, the AHFES Distance Learning Resource Database has become open to ALL teachers upon request.  Teachers are able to independently submit requests for asychronous programming based on their curriculum needs and teaching schedule.
