Ego Tripping and The Marvelous "I" An Introduction to Slam Poetry
Presented by: Capfire Spoken Word Arts
We will write and perform poetry based on variations of an "I AM" poem. We will use improvisation and physical warm ups to create images to express how we feel, who we are. In pairs, we will tell bold lies and hyperbolize. The 3 part lesson starts with Nikki Giovanni's poem, EGO TRIPPING to give us permission to write our ups and downs, our triggers and glimmers. We will write from our fantasy "OTHER" life. We will go into experimental writing with a Word Throw to generate an "I AM" poem. and then we will generate sensory images to explore who we are based on our past and who we are as our fiercest selves.
