DC Jazz Festival 

The mission of the DC Jazz Festival is to: Present internationally world-renowned and emerging artists in celebration of jazz, Unify diverse communities and enable connections between artists and audience year-round; Advance jazz and music education by providing exciting, adventurous and diverse music experiences for audiences of all ages and backgrounds in greater DC as well as out-of-town visitors; Provide performance opportunities for DC-based jazz musicians; and Highlight DC as a major and vibrant center for jazz and as a premier cultural destination.

Jazz and Hip Hop
Presented by: DC Jazz Festival
Nominated for a 2018 Stellar-award for his production on Grammy-nominated R&B singer Kenny Lattimore, Super Producer & Multi-instrumentalist Nate ‘Impact’ Jolley will lead guide students through the connections between hip hop and jazz.  Jolley has produced a wide array of contemporary artists including Fifth Harmony, Chante Moore, MYA, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, King Los, & Too Short & more. Connections will include jazz and hip hop overlaps of swing, improvisation, blues, sampling, signifying, and swagger.  Surprise guest hip-hop artist will participate in the program.
