Biography
Diane Macklin, Storyteller has a “dynamic” approach to engaging audiences – whether as a performing artist, keynote speaker, or workshop/residency leader. Her background in theatre, dance, and cultural mediation adds zest to her work, focusing on storytelling as a transformative and healing art form. She has performed from Massachusetts to California for venues such as Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park, National Association of Black Storytellers, Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, International Storytelling Festival’s Exchange Place, National Docent Symposium, and many more. As a performer, certified educator, and teaching artist, Diane believes in “Making a Difference, One Story at a Time!”
Arts and Humanities Education Philosophy 
Art is a wonderful vehicle for discovery, creativity, and revealing one's authentic self. Storytelling is the language of the entire human race. It is a shared experience by all. As a result, the art of storytelling holds the power to unite, heal, and provide opportunities for authentic, organic learning.
Why is Diane an advocate for Arts and Humanities Education?
When asked, "Why did you leave classroom teaching to become a storyteller?" My response is simple, "I did not leave to stop teaching, I left to REALLY teach in a way and medium that works best for me and my audience."
How does she promote Arts and Humanities Education?
As a storyteller, I never "take off" my art form. I am always engaged in the narrative of the moment that lifts people up and brings people together.

Fun Fact! Diane says: "The first story I ever told as a storyteller was in 1993. After working for a non-profit doing peace and justice work for farm workers in Upstate New York, an MAT in Teaching Middle School English, and five years teaching in both private and public education, I changed lanes to live and work as a full time storyteller. That was over 15 years ago."
