DC Collaborative Message to School-based Educators and Administrators

March 11, 2020

The DC Collaborative is proactively monitoring the COVID-19 virus outbreak by following the Mayor’s office and is in close communication with DCPS central office.

If you have a DC Collaborative field trip on the schedule within the next 30 days, we encourage you to talk to your administration about your school’s field trip policy during this time. We understand the extenuating circumstances and we value student and teacher safety as our top priority. If you must cancel a field trip to one of our AHFES experiences, we ask that you notify the DC Collaborative at info@dccollaborative.org with as soon as possible and no less than 48 hours notice ahead of the scheduled date. Cancellations within 48 hours will have a negative impact upon the DC Collaborative budget.

As the situation evolves, we will continue to keep our community informed. We have a significant amount of trips scheduled for March, and our new lottery is set to start in April. Though we are taking the possibility of field trip cancellations into serious consideration, we are in close contact with our community stakeholders, and we will be releasing updates in the upcoming days regarding any immediate changes or cancellations, should they be necessary for the safety of DC students and teachers and our broader community.

The DC Collaborative encourages you to regularly check the DC Public Schools website, as well as the communications from the Mayor's office at coronavirus.dc.gov for the most up-to-date news on COVID-19.

Stay tuned! for the DC Collaborative's Arts and Humanities Education Online Resources in response to COVID-19 for a list of online field trip alternatives that DC's arts and humanities organizations have available to DC students and teachers.
