Education

Description of Education Initiatives: The MusicianShip After-School Program operates directly in public and charter schools, providing free music instruction and music ensemble enhancement—both instrumental and vocal. Through this program, we serve a dual role in the community as music educators and mentors, interweaving the art of music and key mentoring principles that improve their socio-emotional capacity.
The MusicianShip’s Summer Program is a multidisciplinary initiative that includes a marching band, a choir, a dance ensemble and tracks in both music business and music media. This program services students up to age 24 and is hosted at multiple DC schools. The MusicianShip’s Master Class Program provides music experiences to 4th and 5th graders in Washington DC public and charter schools. Students arrive at a notable music venue and enjoy a lively and interactive 1.5 hour presentation from national and international artists. Students will be inspired through variety of music topics that include cross-curricular concepts.

Partnership with DC Collaborative

DC Collaborative member since 2013.

"The DC Collaborative provides us the opportunity to connect with arts organizations that have a focus on education. Through their events, we've had the opportunity to meet organization representatives and teaching artists who have collaborated with us in a variety of ways. The Collaborative has also been a driving force in our ability to increase the number of DC area students we serve through our field trip experiences each year. Thank you for all you do for us!"
