Summer 2020 Internships

The DC Collaborative believes that the arts and humanities are central to the education of every student. A community-based partnership organization, now more than 120 members strong, the DC Collaborative works to promote quality arts and humanities education for all DC public and public charter schools. Working with our partners, the DC Collaborative produces such exemplary programs as Arts and Humanities for Every Student, Professional Development and Collective Impact initiatives.

Interns are involved in providing support to DC Collaborative staff, as pertaining to our programmatic, communications, membership, and developmental needs, as well as working to support the daily activities necessary to manage a small non-profit.  Internships can be specialized in the following areas or any combination thereof:


  • Assist with creation of e-newsletter, press releases and other online communications
  • Conduct research on arts, humanities, and education related trends. Distribute articles and information related to DC Collaborative areas of interest on various media platforms
  • Develop content for our Story Bank Blog
  • Develop, post and track content on our social media platforms
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Assist the Programming team with creating organization and school reservation sheets for the upcoming school year
  • Collect and organize AHFES program information for the annual AHFES review
  • Design, edit and proof online AHFES Catalogue pages for each participant in the AHFES program
  • Other duties as assigned

Membership and Collective Impact Initiatives

  • Identify potential organizational partnerships and design an outreach strategy for prospective members
  • Assist with the FY21 Membership renewal campaign- Including updating the Membership database and tracking membership dues
  • Assist in updating and drafting membership feature pages on our website
  • Help draft and edit our monthly newsletter
  • Help schedule and organize membership convenings including: our quarterly Members Meeting, Any Given Child DC convenings, topic sessions and other workshops/ networking events
  • Assist with data collection, analysis and database maintenance for our Collective Impact Initiative, Any Given Child DC
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to focusing an open office setting
  • Ability to work on multiple and concurrent projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite and Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in a non-profit setting
  • Prior experience with DC Public and Public Charter Schools
  • Working knowledge of HTML or website applications

Status: Intern/Volunteer part-time
Hours: Monday-Friday; 10-25 hours per week; flexible schedule
Compensation: Unpaid, Transportation stipend of up to $500
