Meeting the Moment: Arts & Humanities Advocacy for FY28

Thursday, November 5th
Noon to 1:30 PM on Zoom
A new chapter is beginning in DC. The arts and humanities community should be part of it.
As the District prepares for new leadership and the FY28 budget, this is an important moment to come together around the values of the arts and humanities education community.
At DC Collaborative’s Community Meeting, Council member Christina Henderson encouraged us to begin engaging the DC Council early—before the traditional spring budget hearing season—to communicate consistent priorities across the sector and use broad, District-wide data to demonstrate need and impact. This virtual working session puts that advice into action.
This will be an action-oriented gathering. Together, we’ll look at the FY28 budget landscape, identify consistent messages our community needs the DC Council to hear, and align on priorities for the coming fiscal year. Participants will leave with data, talking points, and concrete next steps they can begin using in conversations with policymakers.
Who should attend: Artists, practitioners, educators, arts administrators, cultural organizations, advocates, and anyone committed to strengthening arts and humanities education for DC students.
Accessibility: The Zoom meeting has closed captioning. If you need accommodations, please email info@dccollaborative.org two weeks before the event.
