Historical Detectives – Foodways of the Past

As historical detectives, students will analyze historical objects, places, and documents to learn about food history at Tudor Place via a hands-on, group-based workshop along with a tour of the Orchard and kitchen. Students will investigate WHO is growing, ordering, and eating food, and practice ASKING relevant QUESTIONS about primary sources to form conclusions from historical evidence presented.

Grade level: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th

Welcome: 5 minutes
Storytime: 10 minutes
Tour and Primary Sources: 40 minutes
Craft Component: 30 minutes
