The District Data Initiative is data as shared knowledge and community cultivation.
It’s hard to tell a story using numbers, but it’s impossible to tell the whole story without them.
The data we collect offers the necessary context for
knowing what our community needs.
We are the only DC organization collecting data
about the arts and humanities in the district and then
giving that data back to the people.
As an arts and humanities professional,
you are not alone.
Through DDi, we offer professional development opportunities
and host discussions that
bring people together.
We work with organizations, teaching artists and practitioners, students, and
educators in the DC public education system.
We bring people together by
organizing gatherings, workshops,
and events that focus on issues our
community wants to address.
We remain an enthustiastic and integral part of the
Kennedy Center’s Ensuring the Arts
to Any Given Child (AGC)
national network.
The final reports are then utilized by the arts and humanities community so
they can prove how much they are needed.
DC Collaborative’s reports and visualizations can be used for
grants, advocacy, funding, employment, and direct action.
Through informal conversations, surveys, events, and other data-related strategies, the Collaborative collects information to
continually evaluate the effectiveness of our work
and the collective work of DC’s nonprofit sector.
Data collection and assessment is a core value
of the DC Collaborative. We employ a full-time Data and Evaluation Manager who facilitates the survey process, reporting, and discussions–both internal and external–about the challenges and opportunities related to data collection.
Collaboration is key
and we need you, and our larger community,
to participate!
Join us in advocating for equitable access to the incredible art and humanities experiences DC has to offer.
