Bright Before Us Like a Flame

Bring the poetry of Langston Hughes to your school for Black History Month! Bright Before Us Like a Flame is a 45-minute theatrical performance celebrating Black history and Black excellence. The performance introduces audiences aged 9 to 18 to spoken word poetry and the poetry of Langston Hughes. Bright Before Us Like a Flame is directed by Regie Cabico and performed by poets Kim B Miller, Pi-Anir, and Amuchechukwu Nwafor. The show includes poems by the performers alongside poems by Langston Hughes. Bright Before Us is performed in assembly and theater spaces and does not require technical production/lighting. Post-performance writing workshops are available and a packet of poems by Langston Hughes are provided as an optional teaching tool for use by schools prior to the performance.
