Cinema Classroom at the Avalon – Chasing Coral

A powerful film that skillfully demonstrates how coral reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate. It is the result of over 500 hours of underwater footage and support from hundreds of people and locations around the world. Participants engage with the film, are led through film reflections, and then speak with local professionals working to preserve the reefs and address other issues related to climate change.

Cinema Classroom at the historic Avalon Theater offers free programming to schools and students in grades 6-12. Featured films engage students in pressing human rights and social justice issues through screenings and expert-guided discussions. Films are paired with interviews hosted by subject-matter experts who guide students through engaging post-film discussions.
