Cinema Classroom at the Avalon – Inocente

“Inocente” is an intensely personal documentary about a young artist’s fierce determination to never surrender to the bleakness of her surroundings. At 15, Inocente refuses to let her dream of becoming an artist be caged by her life as an undocumented immigrant forced to live homeless for the last nine years. We hope this film will empower students to become/remain resilient when faced with challenges and see the power and necessity of art.
Cinema Classroom at the historic Avalon Theater offers free programming to schools and students in grades 6-12. Featured films engage students in pressing human rights and social justice issues through screenings and expert-guided discussions. Films are paired with interviews featuring subject-matter experts who guide students through engaging post-film discussions.
