DC Poets for DC Schools

Day Eight

Bring past finalists and winners of the DC Poet Project to perform and teach in your classroom this spring. The DC Poets for DC Schools program provides a poet/educator to serve individual classrooms with 45-minute generative poetry workshops, including five to ten minutes of performance by the poet-educator. Let your students be inspired by DC poets and love for words!

Grade level: 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th
Maximum attendees: 35
Program Outline:

10 mins: introduction and performance by the poet/educator
25 mins: interactive and generative poetry workshop
10 mins: youth share of writing, closing reflection, surveys
