IMPULSE!

Company E performs “IMPULSE!”, a 45-minute collaborative performance using dance, live and recorded music, and storytelling to follow one character’s search for his own pulse. The show reveals that all living things — including the Earth — have a unique heartbeat, and that protecting the planet’s pulse ultimately protects our own.

Grade level: PreK, K, 1st, 2nd
Maximum attendees: 150
Program Outline:

5 mins: A Company | E teaching artist / dancer will introduce the show, the dancers and musicians, some of the science of “IMPULSE” and tips on how to watch a dance performance
*45min: Dance and music performance – Students are encouraged to react to the performance: clap, gasp, laugh, cheer, etc.
5min: Q and A and reflection

*The performance is 45 minutes long but can be adjusted to as little as 30-35 minutes to fit within school schedules.
Post-performance workshops are highly recommended, as they will help students process what they saw in the performance, highlight themes of science, social studies, and art (dance, music, self expression, etc.), and provide a place for their own movement based on what they experienced from “IMPULSE!.”
