Studio Theatre Student Matinees

This fall, Studio’s Student Matinee program will offer free tickets to WILDERNESS GENERATION by James Ijames, a post-show conversation with artists, and a student resource guide. Ijames won the Pulitzer Prize for FAT HAM (Studio, 2023).

WILDERNESS GENERATION is set in Virginia and follows four cousins who come back at the family homestead to pack up their grandmother’s house. Over a weekend of board games and in-jokes, the cousins crack each other up, spill secrets, and face some difficult truths about the choices their parents made for them. A moving comedy that asks whether preservation means holding on or learning to let in something new.

Studio’s Student Matinee program offers free tickets to two of our productions in the 2026-2027 season, and a post-show conversation with artists from the production. Studio provides a student resource guide on the play, a mix of interviews with artists on the show, background material on the play, playwright, and world of the play. The student guide also includes questions and a pre- or post-show activity for educators, aligned with national and DC education standards.
