Thinking Routine Thursday (6th-8th)
Using Harvard Project Zero’s Thinking Routines, students learn about women artists by looking closely at several developmentally appropriate artworks, contributing respectfully to open-ended discussions; posing questions; sharing their opinions; and making connections between visual art and their world. These experiences engage students’ observation and inference skills; improve vocabulary; foster social emotional learning capacities; and introduce various artistic techniques and media.
The Everyday DC (6th through 8th grades) resources encourage students to view, discuss, and create visual art that considers Washington, D.C.’s rich and diverse communities and celebrates the identities of those who call the city home.
